Donkea

Global Hydro successfully completed the comprehensive revitalization of the Donkea Hydropower Plant in Guinea, delivering a complete Water-to-Wire solution. The project included the replacement of nearly the entire electromechanical equipment, from turbines and generators to control, protection and auxiliary systems, while seamlessly integrating the new technology into the existing powerhouse geometry.

Despite challenging boundary conditions, extensive reverse engineering and complex interface requirements, the modernized plant was successfully commissioned, increasing the installed capacity from 15.3 MW to 16.8 MW. The project significantly improves efficiency, reliability and long-term operational performance, ensuring a sustainable power supply for the surrounding region.
