Located in Bjerkreim municipality, the Ørsdalen hydropower plant is a modern high-head installation on the west coast of Norway. Commissioned in 2023, the project utilizes a gross head of 336 meters to ensure efficient and reliable renewable energy generation under challenging site conditions.
The plant is equipped with a vertical Pelton turbine featuring four nozzles and an installed capacity of 3 MW. With an annual production of approximately 14 GWh, it supplies clean energy equivalent to the consumption of around 700 households. As part of a revitalization project, Ørsdalen replaces the former Vassbø hydropower plant, originally commissioned in 1944, representing a significant upgrade in terms of efficiency, reliability, and technological standard.
Global Hydro supplied the complete electromechanical equipment and supported the project from engineering through installation and commissioning. The successful project execution reflects a reliable partnership with the customer and contributes to a future-proof and sustainable hydropower solution.
