Cavitation – an invisible risk and untapped potential.
Cavitation occurs when local pressure falls below the vapor pressure of water. Vapor bubbles form and are transported into areas of higher pressure, where they collapse. The resulting high-energy pressure waves can cause surface damage, efficiency losses, and reduced component lifetime.
At the same time, static cavitation limits may restrict the operating range more than necessary. Continuous monitoring with CaviDect provides transparency about actual cavitation intensity and shows where operation beyond conservative limits may be possible.
