SediSense is an AI-based sediment monitoring system using Acoustic Emission (AE) analysis. The underlying measurement principle has been successfully used in the oil and gas industry for decades and has been adapted for hydropower applications.
Instead of monitoring water turbidity upstream of the power plant, SediSense measures sediment impacts directly at the turbine. Non-invasive acoustic sensors detect particle impacts, while advanced machine learning algorithms account for normal operating conditions and isolate the wear signal caused by sediment in real time.
